Craig Pomranz

In this episode I interview singer, actor, and author Craig Pomranz. This is a first for the podcast! Until now none of my interviewees has been male. I started this podcast really wanting to give more women a voice. Then Craig approached me and when I read his book I was both charmed and sure that his was also a voice to amplify.

Craig has written a wonderful children’s book that tackles our stereotypes around gender roles. In a world where we see evidence of toxic masculinity every day paying attention to how we are engaging with our boys is critical to gender equality, ending the cycle of violence against women, and raising boys who grow up to truly respect women and themselves.

Too often the conversation about this happens only among women but that's not going to get it done. To change the dynamic we need men and women on board. If you have children, if you know children, this subject matters.

My guest today is Craig Pomranz. Craig is an internationally known singer/song-stylist, actor and author.  His first children’s book Made By Raffi has been published in 8 languages and 11 countries to date. Inspired by Made by Raffi composers Amanda McBroom (Bette Midler’s award-winning song “The Rose”) and Michele (Browerman) Brourman (The Land Before Time series) have written the song "Different".   You can find it on youtube and on Craig’s youtube channel.   

Originally from St. Louis, MO Craig got his professional start at age 12 performing at The MUNY (the largest outdoor theater in the country).  Craig attended Carnegie-Mellon and The Goodman Theatre which is part of The Art Institute of Chicago.

Among his awards are New York’s MAC Award for Best Male Vocalist and the TOR Award for best actor in a musical venue. Craig lives in New York City and travels the world performing in nightclubs and theatres.
