Activism 101:
A Workshop For Introverts &
Highly Sensitive People
a two and a half hour workshop
One of the challenges of doing activism, if you identify as an introvert or highly sensitive person, is answering the question, "How can I do impactful activism without burning myself out?"
The activist community needs quiet, sensitive people like you...
If you’re a highly sensitive introvert, chances are you feel the injustices of the world deeply.
You want to do your part to make a difference, but maybe you...
Aren’t sure how or where to start
Get so overwhelmed you shut down
Feel like you don’t have the skills or energy
Struggle to see yourself in the word ‘activist’
Have engaged in activism but experienced burnout
I know the term ‘activism’ tends to conjure up images of loud megaphones, crowded protests, lobbying politicians, or knocking on doors of strangers.
For highly sensitive people and introverts prone to sensory overload, social anxiety, or physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion, this definition of activism can make it feel like you have no place in this work.
The truth is, you can mobilize your unique strengths toward social justice without sacrificing your own well-being and landing in depletion.
Social justice movements require a broad range of skill sets and actions. Everyone contributing in the same way is, in fact, a recipe for failure.
In this workshop you will:
Uncover your Activist Archetype based on your unique strengths
Explore your story and clarify your vision for the change you want to see
Identify key groups and organizations that can help you act toward your vision
Create a personal game plan for action that you can actually sustain
With exercises, breakout groups, and a Q & A session you have a chance to not only discover your way of activism but meet others who, like you, are quiet activists. Sharing ways of making an impact without burnout and crafting your own plan for sustainable activism will energize you as you realize that what you have to contribute matters.
From there, activism becomes much simpler. Rather than trying to force yourself into a one size fits all type of activism, you'll have a plan that uses your strengths and your talents to help move the world toward justice while honoring your essential nature.
